Friday 13th February – Creating interactive PDF portfolios in InDesign
This one-hour lunchtime webinar introduces medical artists to creating interactive PDF portfolios using Adobe InDesign. It will explore why interactive, digital portfolios are increasingly useful for showcasing work online, particularly for sharing with clients, employers, and educators. The session will also provide an overview of the types of interactivity that can be achieved in InDesign, helping you present your work in a more engaging and professional way.
Friday 3rd April – Can’t get to a dissection room? Where can I find online resources?
This one-hour lunchtime talk is aimed at medical artists who are unable to access a dissection room but still want high-quality anatomical reference. It will explore a range of online anatomy resources and demonstrate how freely available 3D scan data, including material from organisations such as the NIH, can be used to support accurate and informed medical illustration and visualisation.
Friday 22nd May – Hand wax reconstruction workshop
This full-day (7-hour) hand wax reconstruction workshop is designed for medical artists who want to deepen their anatomical understanding through hands-on making. Participants will build a hand reconstruction layer by layer, sculpting each ligament, tendon, and muscle in turn. A prepared bone armature and wax are provided, and completed models can be taken home at the end of the day.
Friday 17th July – Hominin facial reconstruction workshop (Homo Erectus)
This full-day (7-hour) hominin facial reconstruction workshop focuses on Homo erectus and is designed for medical artists who want to deepen their anatomical understanding of facial reconstruction through hands-on making. Participants will create a facial approximation layer by layer, sculpting each facial muscle in turn onto a prepared 3D-printed skull. Wax and materials are provided, and completed reconstructions can be taken home at the end of the day.
Friday 11th September – Shoulder wax reconstruction workshop
This full-day (7-hour) shoulder wax reconstruction workshop is designed for medical artists who want to deepen their anatomical understanding through hands-on making. Participants will build a shoulder reconstruction layer by layer, sculpting each ligament, tendon, and muscle in turn onto a prepared bone armature.
