Ronald Raven Award

It is a great privilege that Professional members of the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain and Registered Students of the MAET, who are also student members of the MAA, are offered the opportunity of applying for and being awarded a Ronald Raven Award, once every three years.
No doubt many of you have been planning and trying to select the best project to advance your career. This award would give you the opportunity to widen your current field of activity, or retrain for one of the newly established fields of medical art and sculpture.
Have you thought about the role of simulation as part of medical education? Would you like to work in this field? And what about learning newly released cutting edge computer based software which would equip you to expand your practice?
Medical education away from the patient is the focus: it is in its infancy and medical artists with the right skills are needed to serve and maintain our high standards. Please don’t waste this incredible opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge!
The next Ronald Raven Award proposal deadline will be December 2025. Application information will become available during 2025 upon request.
All MAET Student applicants must be active registered students, alongside being student members of the MAA, with all course and membership fees paid up to date.
Applications for funding can be made relating to:
* Medical art projects
* Research relating to visiting educational institutions overseas
* Medical art related training courses
If you have a particular project in mind why not apply?

Whitaker Award

The Whitaker Award has been generously gifted by Dr. R.H. Whitaker an Examiner on our MAET Examinations Board. Following the two annual Assessment reviews of MAET students course work, two students are proposed by the Examination Board, who have either presented an exceptional piece of work or who have shown the best development during the year, to become Award recipients. The Awards are subsequently presented during the Medical Artists’ Association annual conference.
